What does institutional painting need that ordinary commercial work does not?
Mostly it needs scheduling discipline and occupant protection, and those two drive everything else.
An institution rarely empties. Schools have terms, medical facilities have clinical hours, and residential institutions never close at all. That means the work is defined by the windows in which a space can be handed over, and those windows are frequently short and immovable. Sizing a crew and a sequence to an actual handover date is a different exercise from quoting a wall area.
Occupant protection is the second half. In a nursing home or medical facility the people in the building may not be able to leave the area being worked on, which changes containment, coating selection and even the time of day a coating goes down. It also raises the lead question: the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule covers child-occupied facilities including preschools and childcare centres built before 1978, so an institutional building housing one of those uses is in scope. For coatings, institutional surfaces generally need to survive repeated cleaning rather than simply look right, which points at different products from a domestic specification.

Can you work to a fixed handover date?
Yes, and it is the right way to plan institutional and commercial work. Tell us the date the space has to be back in use at the estimate stage rather than after we start — that is what determines crew size, sequence and whether the job is feasible in the window at all. It goes into the quote.

Yes, sanitary hospital, nursing home and medical institution work is part of what we do. Those environments need containment that protects people who cannot simply leave, coatings that stand up to repeated cleaning, and a schedule built around clinical use rather than around the crew.
Do you do epoxy floors?
Epoxy and concrete floor coating is part of our commercial work. It is common in back-of-house, light-industrial and institutional spaces, and it is very sensitive to substrate preparation and to moisture in the slab — which is why we look at the actual floor before quoting rather than pricing by area.
